ANALISA PREFERENSI PEMILIHAN RUTE TERPENDEK (STUDI KASUS PERUMNAS SIMALINGKAR – PUSAT KOTA MEDAN)

Abstract

Searching the shortest path are the topic that much discussed in transportation. Each person will find the shortest path in his/her journey from the origin place to his/her destination, which ‘ll be efficiency the distance, time and cost that required while traveling on his journey. In general the route that taken by road users in organizing their activities is just a route that often (usually) he/she is passed or considered as shortest path based on personal perceptions, which in fact it is not necessarily true.

This research that conduct at medan city, was try to evaluate how the traveller choose their route, from their home base (simalingkar housing) to the downtown, that based on their preferences.

For the first step of the research, the surveyor conducting questionare survey to collect all of route that traveler usually pass. And then surveyor conduct a travel time survey through all the route to evaluate the total travel time among the route.

From the research, there are only 33% of road users who choose the same route with the shortest routes obtained from the calculation (either with the Dijkstra algorithm or Floyd-Warshall). While 67% of other road users is only based on the assumption / perception of where the route chosen is the shortest route. The are many different reason for road users in choosing their route, but the shortest time is the main reason.

Key word: Route Choice, Shortest Path, Djikstra, Floyd-Warshall
